Decorations for Christmas 2023
About our 2023 Christmas Decorations
Christmas Flowers. Thank you for your donations for Christmas flowers. As in the past, these funds will be used for all of our Christmas decorations. Any excess funds will go to the Christmas collection as always. Thank you for your special generosity in this regard.
Narthex Tree. This year, the narthex tree will have the giving tree tags for our charitable Christmas gift drive. After that, we ask everyone to bring an ornament for the narthex tree. Then, after Christmas, please take an ornament home to pray for your fellow parishioners during the new year!
Volunteers Needed. This year, volunteers are needed to help put up and take down our Christmas decorations. Please check out the schedule below, and contact the parish office to volunteer for each of the following decorating activities this year. Thank you!
Volunteer Schedules for our 2023 Christmas Decorations
November 12. Volunteers are needed on Sunday, November 12, after the 11:30 a.m. Mass. We will put up the large Christmas tree in the narthex. This will be our “giving tree,” where the name tags will be placed for our Christmas gift drive for the poor which starts on November 17-18.
November 26. Volunteers are needed on Christ the King Sunday, November 26, after the 11:30 a.m. Mass. We will put up the two trees and wreaths in the sanctuary. We will also put out the advent wreath by the pulpit. The first Sunday of Advent is on December 3.
December 17. Volunteers are needed on the Third Sunday of Advent, December 17, after the 11:30 a.m. Mass. We will put up the nativity scene in the narthex fountain area. Then we will bring in all the flowers for church and put ornaments on the trees in the sanctuary.
December 24. After the 9:30 a.m. Mass on Christmas Eve morning, we will take away the Advent wreath, and replace it with statues of Baby Jesus, Mary and Joseph. We will also add the statue of Baby Jesus to the narthex nativity scene, in preparation for the Christmas Eve Vigil Mass.
January 7. Volunteers are needed on Epiphany Sunday, January 7, after the 11:30 a.m. Mass, to help us start taking down the Christmas decorations. We won’t take everything away at once, but we will get a good start on it that day. Narthex ornaments will be available for parishioners to take home.
Thank you for volunteering to help with the church decorations for Christmas. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! God bless you always!
